What is Circle of Friend?
Circle of Friends is a 501C3 non-profit organization whose primary intent is to be an asset to our community. All workers are volunteers. After meeting our expenses, most of the income generated goes back into our community.
How does Circle of Friends benefit the community?
Because you give to us, we in turn give to the community. We do this in many ways - toys for the police and fire persons to share with displaced children - Clothes and affordable household items for discharged prisoners - Blankets, rugs and towels for animal shelter pets - Food pantry donations - Newborn welcome kits for needy mothers - Monetary gifts and much more.
We also donter to ADRA, an international disaster relief agency of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. This includes disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, and tsunami in foriegn lands.
Our Staff
Shirley Mason – manages the shop.
She moved back to the area a couple of years ago from Colorado when she got involved in getting the shop up & running. Shirley has worn a few different hats in the lifetime – as an RN, administrator of Eden Valley’s Assisted Living facility, massage therapist & baker of whole grain breads. Now she is happy to run the shop to the glory of God.
Karen Fuelleman – one of our regular RSVP volunteers.
A proud grandmother of 4 young grandbabies, she proudly shares her time with us. Karen has been with us about 1 ½ years. Karen does most of our window displays and also helps with pricing and intake. She says this is her favorite place to volunteer.
Barbara Hoffman - another of our regular RSVP volunteers.
She has been with us about 1 year. Barbara is also a proud grandmother and great grandmother. She too helps with pricing and intake.
Joan Kellen – also comes from RSVP.
She too is a proud grandmother of 16 grandkids between the ages of 2 – 24 and 1 great grandchild.
We also have some that come on a less regular basis. Diane Brockman, Leslie McMasters, & Jeff Niendorf are also with us at this time. Evelyn Smith does the mending.
Most of the rest of our help comes through RSVP - the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. RSVP is a nationwide volunteer program which invites adults 55 and over to use their life experiences and skills to assist their neighbors in need.
And last but not least, Patti -my schnauzer dog - is our greeter and she is theraputic for many of our customers
